Bengaluru: The case against Reliance Retail has been filed by a person in Bangalore. Ravikiran C. Kadu, 34, who bought goods worth more than Rs 2,000, was charged Rs 24.9 for a Reliance Retail carry bag. After this Ravikiran filed a complaint against Reliance Retail. Or Ravi Kiran’s arm got out of the case. Reliance Retail has been fined Rs 7,000 for violating consumer rights.

Ravikiran along with his wife would have gone to Reliance Smart Pointla at Rosy Nandini Layout on 10 July 2022. Both of them bought food grains and other household items. His bill was Rs 2,007. The employee at the billing counter, Ravi Kiran, demanded Rs 24.9 for a carry bag. That’s why Ravikiran, who is a lawyer, was shocked.

Ravikiran tried to make the employees understand on the basis of customer’s rights and legal matters. Only the employees are not alone. Tyanam asked Ravikiran to pay Rs.24.9. Buy Bananas goods in Ghari Nyayachan Asalyan Akher Ravikiran Yanne paid 24.9 rupees to buy Pishvi.

Ravikiran took the matter to the Bangalore City District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. He lodged a complaint against Reliance Retail Limited and Reliance Smart Point’s administration. Ravikiran, who is a lawyer, automatically joined the group. Or the matter came to be sent on 16th July Reliance notice. Reliance did not reply to the notice and the case went to the court.

Ravikiran represented himself in the court on the basis of amendments in the Consumer Protection Act. Retailers have erred in expecting customers to always bring their own carry bags. They rationalized that it is the job of the shops to give the goods to the customers. In this case, the court removed Ravikiran’s arms. The court ordered Ravikiran to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation and Rs 2,000 as compensation for the expenses incurred by him in court.
