Outrage in Bhakiyu: Farmers thundered in the collectorate, day-long strike on these five big demands, heavy police force deployed

Bhartiya Kisan Union Ambavata staged a sit-in protest demanding compensation for land acquisition, remunerative sugarcane price to farmers and DM alleging rude behavior with farmers. As soon as the strike started, the city magistrate stopped the mike, but the farmers remained firm in the collectorate. The farmers have handed over a five-point demand letter to SDM Sadar Parmanand Jha.

In view of the announcement of Bhakiyu Ambavata’s dharna, police and paramilitary forces were deployed in the collectorate premises since morning. The workers of the organization started arriving at 10 am itself. When the speech started from the mike at around 11.30 am, City Magistrate Anoop Singh reached the dharna site and asked to switch off the mike. The police asked the farmers to sit quietly. Meanwhile, District President Shah Alam also reached the dharna. For two hours the farmers along with some women workers sat on dharna. After this the office bearers of Ghaziabad, Noida, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Baghpat and Shamli reached the dharna.

When State General Secretary Krishna Nagar took over the mike, the Civil Line SO tried to stop the mike, but he did not succeed. The speakers said that on November 29, the DM behaved indecently with the farmers and workers. The farmers sitting on the dharna were adamant on calling the DM among them.

Later, due to long talks, SDM Sadar Parmanand Jha reached among the farmers and took the memorandum. The SDM said that the government and the administration respect the farmers. After this the strike ended. Haji Tahir presided over the dharna. State President Vikas Pradhan, State Incharge Munendra Pahlwal, National Spokesperson Brijesh Bhati, National President of Women’s Wing Rashmi Chaudhary, National President of Youth Farman Tyagi, Lokesh Bhati of Noida, Nitin Bainsla, Narendra Bansal, Monu Panwar, Meerut District President Jitendra Chaudhary, Sandeep Kumar and Arvind Kumar kept their views.

Farmers kept these five demands

Bhakiyu Ambavata kept five demands in the memorandum sent to the Governor. In this, a demand was made to give proper compensation for the land acquired by the farmers in NH-58. In the episode of November 29, anger was expressed over the behavior of the DM. Demands were made to stop GST raids on traders and to increase the price of sugarcane by Rs 400 per quintal.

Tahri distributed to farmers

Arrangements were made for samosas in the morning breakfast and tahri in the afternoon for the farmers who reached the dharna under the leadership of District President Shah Alam.
