On the other hand, on this occasion of Uttarayan in Gujarat, Lord Swami Narayan is decorated with colorful kites in the famous Swami Narayan Temple of Rajkot. Here on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the temple was decorated with more than 2000 kites on last Friday. It is not just a festival but an integral part of Hindu tradition.
However, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti last year in Gujarat, more than 60 people were injured in incidents related to flying kites on Friday. Then 108 emergency ambulance service took 63 people to hospitals. Most of these were street commuters. He was injured on his neck and face by kite strings hanging dangerously in public places.
