There are many reasons behind the big defeat of BJP in the by-election for Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav. The biggest reason for this was the interference of the leaders of a particular caste in the politics of the district. Because of this, not only did other castes, which were considered as the core vote of the BJP, reject the BJP, but the workers also opposed it internally. On the other hand, if we look at the administrative level, the farmers troubled by the problem of destitute cattle also rejected the BJP.

Even though the government operated gaushalas for the destitute cattle from the city to the rural areas, but laxity was observed from the administration level. Because of this, these cows kept destroying the fields of the farmers. When the turn came to vote, the farmers voted against the party. The result is that the BJP leaders have no answer for the defeat. After the results are out, the office bearers and people’s representatives have started preparing the outline to reply to the party high command.

BJP’s hand remained on special caste

In the politics of the district, from the block level to the district level, there are many such posts on which only the party and the government wins. But for all these posts in Mainpuri, the BJP got the upper hand on regional caste leaders. Whether it is the post of block chief, the post of district panchayat president, the post of district co-operative bank president or the post of cabinet in the government of the state, only caste-specific got a place. Apart from this, the highest position in the district executive of BJP remained in the lap of a particular caste. Due to this, the displeasure of Brahmins, Vaishyas and Lodhis, who are considered as the core vote bank of BJP, was clearly visible. As a result BJP got defeated.

The administration never saw the pain of the farmers

Apart from politics, the administration never saw the pain of the farmers in the BJP rule. Whether the destitute cows have ruined the fields of the farmers or DAP is needed for sowing the fields. Every time the farmers got only trouble. Even though the government is running the gaushalas, but the administration could not take the destitute cattle to the gaushala. Instead of Rs 1350 per bag, Rs 1600 was charged for DAP. In such a situation, when the farmers felt that the government was contesting these elections, the farmers replied. The farmers indicated in the by-elections that if their problems are not resolved, they will also vote for them.

waiting in the name of development

In the Mainpuri Lok Sabha by-election, development also became an issue among the people somewhere. While the SP kept on counting its development works, the BJP leaders kept on diverting from the issue. In fact, the SP government in Mainpuri enumerated other development works ranging from Fourlane, Government Engineering College, Government Polytechnic College, Government Inter College, Sainik School, Bus Stand, Sau Shaya Hospital. But even after five and a half years, the BJP could not see an example of development in Mainpuri. In such a situation, the people voted for the SP in the name of development and the BJP had to be satisfied with the defeat.
