Ahmedabad : Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has approved a bill brought by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the budget session to curb the incidents of leakage of exam papers for government recruitment. Under this bill, there is a provision to punish those involved in such cases with imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of up to one crore rupees.
Minister of State for Home Harsh Shanghvi said on Monday that the House had unanimously passed the Gujarat Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill 2023 on February 24 and now Governor Devvrat has approved it. Under the provisions of the Bill, those involved in malpractices like leaking exam papers can be punished with imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine of up to Rs one crore.

This bill has been brought to crack down on those who leak question paper of any recruitment exam, buy question paper illegally or solve any such question paper illegally. The bill states that any candidate indulging in such activity can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years and also be fined up to one lakh rupees. (agency)
