Thane: A fire broke out at a godown in Thane city of Maharashtra, destroying the packaging material kept there. Municipal officials gave this information on Tuesday. Avinash Sawant, head of the Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), said that the fire broke out at around 11 pm on Monday and there were no casualties. He told that the godown is located in the main market near Thane station.
According to Sawant, on being informed, local fire brigade and a team of RDMC rushed to the spot. Two fire tenders were sent to douse the fire and it was brought under control by 3.30 am on Tuesday, he said.

The plastic and packaging material kept in the godown was completely destroyed in the fire, the official said. He said that the fire department is investigating to find out the cause of the fire. At present, there has been no loss of life in this arson. (agency)
