About 15 traders of the district who do business with Varanasi’s oil company JVL Agro Industries Limited may receive CBI notice. However, three of these oil traders have already received notices. According to sources, JVL has claimed to provide oil on credit to these traders. Alleged that she did not repay the loan, due to which she became bankrupt.

The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACB) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the reasons behind JVL Agro Industries Limited being declared bankrupt. Banks allege that JVL has declared himself insolvent to avoid collecting dues without any solid reason.

According to sources, the central probe agency is sending notices to the wholesale oil traders of the states whose names have been mentioned in JVL’s dues. The investigating agency is ascertaining how much truth is there in JVL’s claim. In this process, notices have come to three oil traders of the city. CBI has more names of about 12 businessmen.

Sources say that the JVL company of Banaras has claimed to give oil to these traders on credit. It is alleged that he borrowed oil worth more than Rs 15 lakh, but did not pay a single penny. This caused huge financial loss to the company. The CBI is looking for the complete details of the business of the traders whose names have been taken on behalf of the JVL company. So far in the investigation it has been found that the names of the firms of the traders whose names have been taken by JVL are not registered in the GST records.

Sources said that e-way bill is used while transporting goods above Rs 50,000. After this, the details of goods and amount come in the GST record. On this basis, GST is levied on it. A CBI source said that one of the three city-based firms to which notices have been given has submitted all the records to the ACB of the CBI. Now these documents will be submitted before the court. Sources said that oil traders used to book oil stocks from Banaras-based company JVL over phone. Every day the price of oil used to come to the local businessman on his mobile. According to this, daily stock booking was done by phone. Oil was sent from the company to the depot in the name of the firm and the trader. Sources said that the CBI may also scan the phone records of these traders.

Did not contact local GST team
A GST official said that the CBI has not contacted them yet. The GST team of Banaras has investigated the documents of JVL Agro Industries Company. If the CBI contacts them, then the GST details of the concerned firms will be scrutinised.

These records have to be deposited in CBI

  • Overall turnover from 2011 to 2018
  • Bill, voucher and other details of oil purchased from Jhula Vanaspati
  • Bank account details of annual transactions with Jhula company
  • Purchase made from Jhula Vanaspati per month and GST record
  • Income tax return information per year

Additional Commissioner GST Devmani Sharma said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not sought information related to the business of any trader.
