Nagpur. Jai Vidarbha party has opposed the proposal of increasing the power tariff by Mahavitaran, calling it a ‘sin’. In the meeting of the party, 37 per cent hike in electricity rate by the company was strongly opposed. Chairman Arun Kedar said that rate hike is loot from the people of Vidarbha. He said that electricity is generated at a unit rate of Rs 2.50 and Mahavitaran proposes to increase the rate by stating a loss of Rs 67,644 crore.

The Regulatory Commission has not held any hearing anywhere in Nagpur and Amravati divisions for the last 3 years. Online application was sought but till now not heard. In February 2021, a scam of 22,000 crore was done by Mahavitaran by sending bills of agricultural pumps at an increased rate. Similarly, Rs 8,000 crore was taken from the Ministry of Energy in the name of subsidy. Even after that, it has been proposed to increase the rate by telling the deficit. It will be strongly opposed. The party will also organize an agitation on March 15 at Variety Chowk.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, Dharamveer Sambhaji Raje Bhosale and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Memorial Day programs were organized in the meeting. During this, Mukesh Masurkar, Arvind Bhosle, Tatyasaheb Mate, Sudha Pavde, Shrikant Daulatkar, Omprakash Shahu, Gunwant Somkunwar, Ed. A large number of workers including Mrinal More, Jyoti Khandekar, Ashok Patil, Naresh Nimje, Rajendra Satai were present.
