The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to a murder accused who has been in jail since August 25, 2006. Also directed to list the appeal against the sentence of life imprisonment and Rs 25,000 fine for hearing in July. The court said that the co-accused has been released by the state government. The petitioner has been imprisoned for a long time.
There is a delay in the hearing of the appeal against the sentence. Therefore he is entitled to be released on bail. The court has ordered his release on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties. This order has been given by the division bench of Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Nalin Srivastava while accepting the bail application filed for the fourth time by Raees Iqbal. Before this, the bail application filed three times has been rejected by the court.
Additional Sessions Judge Agra sentenced on September 7, 2007. An FIR was registered in the Sadar police station on the charge of murder on the petitioner. After the police charge sheet, the court convicted and sentenced. This has been challenged in appeal. Court said that the petitioner is entitled to get bail under the decision of Saudan Singh case.
