Sonia Gandhi On Congress Presidential Election: The interim president of the party, Sonia Gandhi, has refused to take anyone’s side regarding the election of Congress President. According to news agency ANI sources, in a meeting with Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday, Sonia Gandhi has said that the election of the party’s president will be free and fair. She will not give her personal approval to anyone.

According to sources, Sonia Gandhi said that the principle of one man-one post will emerge when the candidate is decided and he will win. Sonia Gandhi has indicated to Ashok Gehlot that she will not favor anyone in the Congress Presidential election and the process will remain neutral.

Ashok Gehlot and Shashi Tharoor are currently leading the race for the post of Congress President. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday that he will contest for the post of president if the party’s top leadership asks him to contest the election. He also made it clear that he wants to continue as the CM in the state.

In his first public statement on contesting for the post of Congress President, Gehlot said that he will not be able to turn down any direction from the top leadership. Ashok Gehlot can now go to Kerala to meet Rahul Gandhi. On being the CM of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot said that the party has given me everything. I have been in various positions for the last 40-50 years. Positions are not important to me. It is more important to fulfill the responsibility that has been given to me. Today I am the Chief Minister, I am fulfilling that responsibility and will continue to do so.

Shashi Tharoor may be Gehlot’s rival

CM Gehlot says that he will try to persuade Rahul Gandhi for the post of president. If Rahul does not agree, he will file his nomination. Shashi Tharoor may be Ashok Gehlot’s rival in the election. Tharoor on Wednesday met Madhusudan Mistry, chairman of the Congress’s Central Election Authority, to discuss his candidature. Let us tell you that the notification for the Congress President’s election will be issued tomorrow i.e. on 22nd September. You can enroll till 30 September. The elections will be held on October 17 and the counting of votes will be done on October 19.
