From Punjab, Haryana to eastern Uttar Pradesh, there was dense fog on Wednesday morning. Due to the icy winds coming from the mountains, the outbreak of cold has also increased in the plains. According to the Meteorological Department, the condition of dense fog and cold wave will continue.

Dense to very dense fog very likely at most places in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours. In UP, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert till December 24. At the same time, Chillai Kalan, the harshest winter season in Kashmir, has started, in which reservoirs and rivers and streams freeze. There was some improvement in visibility in Delhi and neighboring areas, but heavy fog in the morning disrupted rail and road traffic and delayed several trains.

Dense fog caused heavy traffic jams at many places in Delhi on Wednesday morning. Three flights returned or were diverted to Delhi due to dense fog in Chandigarh, Varanasi and Lucknow on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, visibility at Palam airport was 400 meters and at Safdarjung airport it was 500 meters, on Tuesday there was 50 meters visibility at both places.

Zero visibility for second day in Bathinda
According to the IMD, the visibility at 5:30 am on Wednesday was zero meter in Bathinda, 25 meter each in Amritsar, Ganganagar and Bareilly and 50 meter each in Ambala, Bahraich and Varanasi.

Schools will open in Noida-Greno from 9 am
All private-government schools in Gautam Budh Nagar will open from 9 am on Thursday.

UP: One killed, 10 injured in road accidents
Due to fog, one died in road accidents in Gorakhpur, Sambhal, while ten people were injured.
A bus collided with a truck and overturned on the Lucknow-Gorakhpur National Highway. After that many vehicles collided with the bus. Five people were injured in the accident.
