Vote anywhere, anywhere; Chakarmanyan will be able to vote from other cities as well as native villages.

Circle Institute, New Delhi: The Central Election Commission has given indications that the facility of voting in the native village and the city will soon be available to the voters who have settled elsewhere for the sake of job-business. Because of this, the servants working in other cities would continue to vote in their native villages from other cities. The Election Commission has developed a special model remote EVM (e-voting machine) for this. This machine has been developed mainly for the convenience of the voters who are permanent in other parts of the country for the sake of job-business and it will be presented to the government parties on January 16, the commission has said.

Along with counting the votes cast in remote polling stations, it is a challenge from the point of view of technology to make the information available to the election officials of other states. Therefore, to beat this and to increase the participation of voters, new draft instruments have been developed. This machine will be very efficient, error free and cannot be connected to the internet,’ said senior officials of the commission.

The representative of the political party, the intention of the concerned other constituents and/or the presentation of the machine, the process regarding the use of the machine will start, as stated in the letter of the Commission. Or a detailed note giving details of the machine has been sent by the commission to the state parties or comments have been sought from them on the legal, administrative and technical challenges regarding the use of the machine. As a part of this research, the functioning of the machine will be presented and for that the commission has invited eight recognized national parties and 57 government parties at the state level on 16 January. Or instructions have been given to the commission or the parties to inform in writing about the machine, doubts, opinions, expected changes, etc. by 31st January.

Or with the help of machines only one remote EVM center can conduct the voting process in maximum 72 constituencies, the commission has said. The machine will be revolutionary considering the voter turnout problems that have become permanent in other cities as well as the voter turnout. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar expressed the belief that this machine will increase the participation of citizens in the voting process.

This will be a social change…

Many voters maintain their original village registration as voters due to the cost of shifting from their actual place of employment to business. Hey voters, they are more attached to the political-social topics of their native village. That’s why they don’t miss their boats in that constituency. But they are not able to go to their native village and cast their votes. That’s why the commission has said that the use of any type of machine will bring about the biggest social change.
