Shivprakash Pal (25), a contract worker who had gone to Anmol Nagar in Sarnath to rectify the fault, died after being struck by lightning, while another contract worker got scorched in Sigra. He has been admitted to a private hospital. After the incident, the employees demonstrated under the banner of Vidyut Mazdoor Panchayat. Angered by this incident, the employees stopped the power supply in Sarnath and Sigra areas. Due to this, there was a power cut in three thousand houses. There was a crisis of drinking water.
Angry employees staged a protest by keeping the body of the contract worker lineman in the Superintendent Engineer’s office premises, Sigra, after the post-mortem. Late in the evening, Junior Engineer (Distribution) Kundan Singh was suspended. Along with this, five lakh rupees were deposited in the bank account of Matrik’s mother.
When the matter reached the MD office, prompt action was taken
After this the anger of the employees calmed down and they agreed to withdraw the movement. The matter of the death of the lineman and the agitation of the workers had reached the MD office. As a result of this, prompt action has been taken in the matter.
