A resident of Ukraine committed suicide by hanging himself last night in a guest house located in Bhelupur area of Varanasi. The information came to the people on Monday morning when the guest house room did not open. Police reached the spot, took the dead body in possession and sent it to the mortuary. Along with this, the Ukrainian Embassy has also been informed about this. According to the police, passport and tourist visa were recovered from the room where the man hanged himself. No suicide note has been recovered from there.
Kostiantyan Beniv (50), a resident of Ukraine, was living in room number 15 of Munna Guest House at Narad Ghat in Kashi since 29 November. His visa was valid till January 1, 2023. He was known as Kripa in Kashi. The reason for the incident is not clear.
Was preparing to go from Banaras to Sasaram
The guest house operator told that when the door did not open till late on Monday morning after calling from outside the room, it was somehow pushed open. Inside the foreign national was hanging in the room. The police reached the spot and got the dead body videographed and taken down from the noose. According to the local people, he often used to say that if he dies in Kashi then he will get salvation. Here he was preparing to go to Sasaram (Bihar).
Additional CP Santosh Kumar Singh said that the Ukrainian citizen who committed suicide lived in the guise of a monk in the guest house. Along with sending the information to the concerned embassy, his post-mortem is being done by the panel of doctors in the eyes of the camera.
Prima facie the case of suicide comes to the fore, yet the police is probing from every angle. On questioning people, it was found that he was a resident of war-torn area in Ukraine.
