Two B.Tech students from the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Gida have designed smart shoes that will alert army personnel against the dangers of landmines. As soon as a landmine comes near, the alarm in these shoes will start ringing. Along with this, it will also keep the soles of the feet warm while patrolling in snowy areas. The special thing is that there will be no need to charge the battery in it, it will be charged as soon as a pin is rotated.

Vinay Chaudhary and Prashant, students of B.Tech first year Computer and Science branch of ITM, Gida, have prepared this special shoe. He made this model under the supervision of Vineet Rai, Head of the Mechanical Department of the college. Students claim that these shoes will prove to be very helpful for the army personnel.

Vinay told that it is often heard that army personnel posted at places like Leh, Ladakh, Rohtang etc. lose their lives by coming under the grip of landmines laid in their area. Apart from this, the temperature is so low that the toes stop working. To get rid of these problems, both were inspired to make such shoes.

These special shoes will alert in three ways as soon as they come close to landmines. A transmitter has been installed in it, which will be activated as soon as it comes near the landmines. First the light will come on in the shoes. After this the alarm will also start ringing. Apart from this, the sole of the shoe will also vibrate.

Battery will be charged like this
Students Vinay and Prashant told that a six volt battery has been installed in the smart shoes. which is connected to the dynamo. The dynamo has to be rotated by a pin. The battery will be fully charged in about ten minutes. The battery will work for four to five days on a single charge.

shoes will be heated by heating plate
Students told that a hitting plate of 2 mm has been installed in smart shoes. Which can be heated if needed with the help of a button on the shoe. These plates started working automatically as soon as the temperature decreased, now they are doing research on this.
