Please inform that, an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred in Uttarkashi, about 300 km from Joshimath, at 2.12 am today.
At the same time, due to the sudden shaking of the earth in the middle of the night, people who were sleeping in deep sleep were in awe. After feeling the tremors of these earthquakes, many people came out of their homes in their sleep. However, due to mild tremors of the earthquake, no loss of life or property has been reported so far. According to experts, the intensity of the earthquake has been measured at 2.9 on the Richter scale.
Along with this, the epicenter of the earthquake has been told in Uttarkashi district itself. Significantly, Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand comes under danger zone-5. Which means that this entire district is very sensitive from earthquake point of view. Due to which strong tremors of earthquake are felt here from time to time.
Earlier on December 12, there was an earthquake in Uttarkashi. Then its earthquake intensity was measured at 3.1 on the Richter scale. On the other hand, on October 20, 1991, the intensity of the earthquake in Uttarkashi was estimated at 6.8. Then thousands of people had died in this terrible earthquake and property worth crores was also damaged.
