New Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express from Sealdah narrowly escaped from an accident in Mirzapur district. Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12314) collided with a crane on Friday evening near Jhingura railway crossing. The pilot applied the emergency brake in time, which averted a major accident. After hitting the train, a part of the crane hit the OHE, breaking the wire as well as a pole. Following the collision with the crane, the engine of the train was damaged and operations on the up and down lines were affected.
Information was given to the NCR headquarters through the railway station. Relief rescue work started on the spot. The up line was started in an hour but the rail operations on the down line are still closed. Some trains have also been diverted.
There was a loud shock, there was a scream in the train
The work of increasing the speed of trains to 160 km per hour is going on on the Prayagraj-Mughalsarai route. The Sealdah-bound New Delhi-bound Sealdah Rajdhani Express was delayed by more than 12 hours passing Jhingura around 5 pm. According to eyewitnesses, the work was going on right next to the railway track. A part of the crane collided with the engine of the train.
