Preparations are on to release prisoners above 70 years of age who are serving life sentence in jails. The State Government has asked the State Legal Services Authority to fix the priority in this regard within two weeks.
Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra has given instructions to hand over the list of all such prisoners to the government within a month.

Let us tell you, on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this exercise is being done to release the elderly and prisoners suffering from serious diseases in jails on humanitarian grounds.
