Former BJP MLA from Sardhana Sangeet Som appeared in the court on Monday and gave statements. A case was registered against him in Khatauli for giving inflammatory speeches about 14 years ago.
On the other hand, on Monday, the presiding officer of Civil Judge Senior Division (Fast Track Court-1) Mayank Jaiswal recorded the statement of the former MLA. The hearing for the evidence of the defense will be held on 16 November.
In April 2008, Shiv Sena leader Lalit Mohan Sharma accused Sangeet Som of giving an inflammatory speech at the Khatauli rally. In the case lodged at the police station, the accused former MLA is accused of spreading hatred by making objectionable remarks against Shiv Sena and Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray through provocative speeches. Objectionable posters were put up at the rally site. After investigation, the police filed the charge sheet in the court.

Public Prosecutor Neeraj Singh said that the evidence of the prosecution has been completed. The statements of accused former MLA Som have been recorded under Section 313 CrPC. Senior advocates Anil Jindal, Thakur Kanwarpal Singh, Taraspal Singh Pundir and Dharmendra Singh were present in the court on behalf of the defence. District President Vijay Shukla and former MLA Ashok Kansal also accompanied him during the trial.
