Unseasonal rains caused damage to thousands of farmers in 191 villages, the Thackeray faction demanded compensation.  Navabharat (New India)


Nashik : Crops of 2798 farmers of 191 villages of Nashik district have been badly damaged due to the unseasonal rains that occurred last two-three days. The leader of the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction has demanded immediate compensation to the farmers who have suffered losses due to this natural calamity. A delegation led by Advay Hire submitted a memorandum to Additional District Magistrate Maya Patole.

Due to unseasonal rains, the farmers of Nashik district have had to bear the brunt of heavy rains and hailstorm. The farmers have suffered a lot due to this natural calamity, in such a situation the state government is only misleading the farmers by giving tempting assurances. The tsunami of unseasonal and heavy rains has left farmers worried and unrest in their homes. Already indebted farmers are facing more trouble due to damage caused by unseasonal rains. Due to unseasonal rains, harvesting of exportable grapes has been affected in many areas including Pimpalgaon, Niphad.

Farmers were denied benefits

In the memorandum given by the Bal Thackeray group, it has been said that the farmers are being exploited in various ways by the government. The farmers have paid the insurance, but they have not received the insurance amount for the loss. Government grants have not been given to the farmers even when their crops have failed due to heavy rains and natural calamities. Earlier, the Maharashtra government had agreed to give incentive subsidy. The memorandum states that oppressive conditions have been imposed on farmers and farmers have been denied benefits. The memorandum calls for the removal of oppressive conditions and the incentive funds and subsidies fixed for ordinary farmers.

Among those who gave the memorandum are Dr. Here Deputy District Chief Rama Mistry, Pramod Shukla, Kashinath Pawar, Kailas Tisge, Prem Mali, Sunny Jagtap, Vilas Birari, Nandu Patil, Mohan Tisge, Ganesh Patil, Dinesh Patil, Kamlesh Pagar, Sanket Hire, Subhash Sawant, Pratibha Pawar, Anand Singh, Shivaji Thok, Lalaji Devre, Anirudh Kuwar, Akshay Mahajan, Vijay Gawli, Nana Shinde, Yogesh Gawli, Swapnil Srivastava, Arjun Bhati etc were present.

During the financial year 2020-21, an amount of Rs 28 crore was sanctioned for damaged crops in 40 villages of Malegaon outer and Nandgaon assembly constituencies.
