Vijay Chaudhary alias Usman, a resident of Bhagokar village of Kaundhiyara police station area of Prayagraj, had left the house with a bike during the day on February 24. After this he returned to the village on March 3. He was hiding in the village for three days. Police got information about Vijay on Sunday.
After this, the village was cordoned off in the evening. Vijay got entry into the Atiq gang two years back through Ghulam Hasan. Five people were identified in the shootout but Vijay was not known to anyone till Sunday. If it was there, the DGP would have announced a reward of 2.5 lakh on him on Sunday as well.
Vijay Chowdhary aka Usman was a name that no one knew before Monday. The police had also identified Asad, Ghulam, Guddu Muslim, Armaan and Sabir among the shooters. Arbaaz was identified as the car driver. No one had a clue about the sixth shooter till Sunday.
On Sunday itself, the DGP had announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on five accused, Vijay alias Usman’s name was not there. However, the police came to know about Vijay and Usman only on Sunday. Police had also got information from surveillance that his location is in the village itself. The village was cordoned off in the evening.
