The conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal was hatched over the FaceTime feature of the iPhone. To avoid the eyes of the police, Atiq Ahmed from Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat and his brother Ashraf lodged in Bareilly Jail were in contact on FaceTime, a special feature of the iPhone.

Ashraf’s brother-in-law Saddam used to go to Bareilly Jail and get him to talk to Ateeq on getting a hint. The STF was keeping an eye on Saddam’s activities, but due to Facetime, his real intentions could not be known. Atiq had also talked to the shooters who committed the crime on FaceTime only.

If STF sources are to be believed, the conversation between Atiq and Ashraf was going on for several months. Both were continuously using mobile in the jail. STF was continuously listening to the conversation between Atiq and Ashraf.
