Nagpur. There has been a rapid increase in the incidents of derailment of trains in the railways. Surprisingly, the railway administration claims to strengthen the infrastructure by taking mega blocks every day. Maintenance work of the track is also claimed to be done. The work of construction of third and fourth lines is also being done vigorously. So why are there incidents of derailment of trains? The authorities do not have the answer to this.
After the incidents, the investigation team is said to have been formed, but against whom action was taken? This question is avoided as an internal matter of the department. However, the railway unions are angry about the functioning of the administration. Be it Central Railway or South-East-Central Railway, there is a severe shortage of staff in Nagpur division of both.
There is also a huge shortage of employees in the security related departments. Employees’ organizations say that the railways is being privatized gradually. Most of the work is being given on contract. Vacant posts of employees are being abolished. Due to this there is a huge work pressure on the railway employees. Most of the workers are falling prey to illness.
The railway administration is ignoring the health and interests of the employees, due to which the accidents are increasing. The officials of the organization say that the railway officials are making small employees as scapegoats.
There is increasing dissatisfaction among the employees against the arbitrary attitude of the officers. Recently there was a nationwide agitation against the railway administration. In this, there was a demand to stop privatization and to fill the vacant posts of employees at the earliest. If the government does not accept the demand of the employees, then the conflict may increase, which will ultimately result in the passengers.
