The Allahabad High Court has expressed displeasure over the slow investigation by the central and state government’s investigative agencies in the Shine City scam of about Rs 68 thousand crore by cheating people in several cities of the state including Prayagraj.

The court said that the reason for the slowness of the investigation is nothing else but the involvement of common citizens. The court said, an FIR was registered in this matter in 2019, but till date the main accused could not be arrested. This comment was made by a division bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice JJ Munir while hearing a petition filed on behalf of several other investors including Shriram.

The court said that on one hand the agencies are claiming to be investigating in the right direction, on the other hand the accused is doing propaganda on social media to increase his business. Even now people are committing mistakes under the guise of the accused and the investigating agencies are unable to do anything.

It was told by the state government that many vehicles of the accused have been seized, action is being taken against them at a fast pace. On the other hand, the advocate appearing on behalf of the Central Government demanded to be given some more time. So that, he can present concrete and detailed reports about the progress of the investigation before the court. He also told that the central government agencies have also sent letters in this regard to the UK and UAE governments. The next hearing of the matter will be on November 30.
