On Sunday night, a joint team of RPF, DDU and CBI arrested three people, including the senior section engineer of the signal department, the vehicle driver and the junk seller, on the charges of stealing and selling railway scrap. During this the team recovered about 3.5 tonnes of iron scrap. By registering a case against the accused, the RPF got involved in further action.
Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Jetin B Raj said that information was received on Sunday night that railway iron scrap was being stolen and taken from a DCM via Chittampur to be sold. After this, DDU RPF in-charge Sanjeev Inspector, Inspector CIB DDU Pankaj Kumar Yadav caught the vehicle near level crossing gate number 01/C/E. During this the team recovered iron scrap from DCM. Interrogated the caught truck driver Manjay Kumar resident of Chaturbhujpur Kotwali Mughalsarai. On his tip, Senior Section Engineer Rampal Singh, in-charge of Signal Depot DDU involved in the theft was also nabbed. Both the people could not show any documents regarding the scrap loaded on the vehicle. Later, the RPF team raided the scrap shop of Shyam Lal at Padav on the tip of both the accused. From there also the team recovered a large amount of railway scrap. Scrap dealer Shyam Lal Gupta was arrested. Senior Divisional Security Commissioner said that during this period about 3.5 tonnes of iron scrap was recovered. Further action is being taken by registering a case against the arrested accused.
