Nagpur. In the Architect Eknath Nimgade murder case, the Special Crime Branch of CBI Mumbai arrested the betel nut killer on Monday. After a long time, the CBI arrested an accused in this case. The arrested accused was said to be Raja POP alias Mohsin Ansari, a resident of Chhindwara. It may be noted that on 6 September 2016, Nimgade was shot dead by unknown assailants in Gandhibagh complex. Tehsil and Crime Branch investigated the episode but nothing concrete was found.
Unhappy with the Nagpur Police’s investigation, Nimgade’s son Anupam filed a petition in the High Court to hand over the case to the CBI. After the order of the court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the Special Crime Branch of Mumbai CBI, but the officers who came from Mumbai also did not get anything. After all, the CBI also declared a reward of Rs 5 lakh to the person giving concrete information. In March 2021, CP Amitesh Kumar made a sensational disclosure of solving the case. Raja POP is a professional criminal. Serious cases including murder and robbery are registered against him. King POP was given contract to kill.
According to the city police, Nimgade was ordered to be killed in a dispute over land worth crores of rupees on Wardha Road. This supari was taken by criminal Ranjit Safelkar. Kalu Hate, who is considered to be Safalkar’s right hand, had given the contract to kill Nimgade to Nabu Ashrafi. It was Nabu who planned the murder by contacting Raja POP. Along with POP, a criminal named Baba of Azamgarh was involved in the firing.
CBI did not get any concrete information. After all, the investigation was carried forward only with the information of the city police. Raja was lodged in Narsinghpur Jail in Madhya Pradesh in another case of POP murder. He was arrested on production warrant. The CBI team has obtained custody by presenting him in a special court.
