New Yamuna Bridge: Repair of new Yamuna bridge with German technology started, work will be done for four months A to Z Counsel

Based on German technology, the work of repairing the damaged part of the new Yamuna Setu of Naini, one of the country’s counted cable bridges, started on Wednesday. The plate of the expansion joint of pillar number 15-A of this bridge was broken due to the pressure of heavy vehicles on July 12. It may take up to four months to replace the bearing and the damaged expansion joint, as well as to strengthen the girder of the damaged part. Barricading has been done at the place of repair. Due to which there was traffic jam for hours.

NHAI has not taken route divert for the repair of this bridge. The repair of the damaged portion in the seven meter long right lane of this 1.6 km long bridge has been started. For this, four and a half meters of this lane of the bridge have been left for traffic. Whereas, barricading has been done within a radius of two and a half meters. The road has become narrow due to the installation of barricades. Due to this, the pressure of vehicles coming from Mirzapur and Rewa Road has started jamming. Even on Wednesday, this bridge was jammed for hours and vehicles were seen crawling like ants.

Two crore rupees will be spent on changing both the expansion joints of Yamuna Setu

Both the joint extensions of the damaged portion of the Yamuna bridge at Naini will be replaced. For this, two French companies have submitted an estimate. The repair of the joint expansion of this bridge is estimated to cost more than two crore rupees. It may take more than four months to repair the bridge. Four joint expansions have been installed in this four-lane bridge. Out of these, the expansion joint on both sides of the damaged part will be replaced. According to NHAI Regional Project Director Pankaj Mishra, where one expansion joint is broken, it has been decided to replace the other extension adjacent to it. Therefore, an estimate has been prepared to replace both the expansion joints.

The repair work of the new Yamuna bridge has been started. For one and a half months, the work of girder strengthening will be done. After this the bearing will be replaced and the barricading will be removed after completing the repair of the damaged part of the bridge along with the installation of new expansion joints.
