Berlin. A 14-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed to death by a man in Germany and another 13-year-old girl was injured in the attack. Both the girls were going to school at the time of the incident. Police gave this information. Police in the southwestern city of Ulm said the attack took place at around 7:30 a.m. in Ellerkirchberg and the two girls were taken to hospital.
“The doctors tried their best to save him, but he succumbed to his injuries,” police said in a statement. Police said a 13-year-old girl was also seriously injured, but her life is not in danger. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Both the girls are citizens of Germany.
Police said a 27-year-old man from a refugee shelter near the scene has been arrested in connection with the incident. This person is a citizen of Eritrea and a knife was also recovered from him. This person is also injured. Two other people have also been detained in the case. Investigators are trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack and whether the girls and the attackers were known.
Expressing grief over the incident, Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Feiser tweeted, “I am saddened by the news of the death of a girl and wish the injured girl a speedy recovery.” My thoughts are with the families.” In its statement, the police appealed to the people not to harbor enmity against refugees and other foreigners and not to suspect them in any way.
