Nagpur. The parents hand over their children to the school van driver with full confidence that he will work to transport them safely, but a school van driver exploits a 6-year-old girl in his own vehicle. This matter came to light after being caught red handed. Additional District Judge KG Rathi convicted the accused and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment. The accused convicted was said to be Ashish Manohar Verma (30), a resident of Ajni Chowk.
The victim student used to travel to and from school in Ashish’s van along with her 13-year-old brother. While returning from school on the afternoon of July 9, 2019, Ashish stopped the vehicle in the middle of the way. Asked the brother to bring samosas and himself started molesting the girl while sitting on the back seat. When the girl raised an alarm, the surrounding citizens gathered. Ashish was caught and beaten up.
On the complaint of the girl’s mother, a case of POCSO Act and molestation was registered against Ashish. Lady Sub-Inspector Bhoyer investigated the matter and filed a charge sheet. Public prosecutor PP managed to prove the charge in open court. Justice. Rathi sentenced Ashish to 7 years rigorous imprisonment. Head constable Supriya Lohkare took over as a lobbying officer.
