Mathura News: Controversy among BJP MLAs regarding the compensation amount to be given to the victim in the SC-ST Act

The BJP MLAs came face to face in the meeting hall of Mathura’s collectorate regarding the compensation to be given to the victims of the SC/ST Act. The MLA from Baldev justified the compensation to the victim after the trial citing the system of governance, while MLA from Mant Rajesh Chaudhary and MLA from Govardhan Thakur Megh Shyam questioned the non-recovery of the said amount after the matter was found to be wrong.

On Monday, a meeting of district level public representatives of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes was held in the collectorate hall. Nagendra Pal Singh, the social welfare officer involved in this, presented the case filed under the STSC Act and the report of the compensation received by him. Told that there are 47 cases of ST Act in the district. Of these, one is related to murder and 46 are related to assault.

BJP MLA from Mant, Rajesh Chowdhary asked whether the compensation amount received on the basis of SC, ST cases is returned if the case is found to be fake. On this the Social Welfare Officer said that there is no such case in the district. On this, Govardhan MLA Medhshyam Singh raised the question that if the case is found to be fake in the SC, ST Act, then the compensation amount given should also be returned.

Legislators will raise the issue in the assembly

Mant MLA Rajesh Chowdhary said that there should be a provision to give compensation on the basis of merits and demerits. For this, both the MLAs talked about raising questions in the assembly. Questioning the role of the police in these cases, the Mont MLA said that the section of the SC ST Act has now been extended in 2022 in the land dispute in Govind Nagar police station in 1989. This is just an example, there are many such cases.

Baldev’s BJP MLA Puran Prakash, citing the government’s order, said that there are orders for the police to register cases in SC, ST cases. After the case is registered, there is a provision to give compensation amount to the victim according to the case filed with the Social Welfare Department. Police and administration officials including MP representative Janardan Sharma were also present in the meeting.
