Originally Mulayam Singh Yadav, a resident of Saifai in Etawah district, started his education from Karhal only. He learned the tricks of wrestling in Karhal’s akhada and also taught in Jain Inter College. An integral part of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, Karhal always played an important role in Mulayam’s victory. The importance of Karhal seat is also known from the fact that when Akhilesh Yadav decided to contest the assembly elections for the first time, he also chose this seat. Presently he is MLA from this seat.
CM Yogi Adityanath has never come to this Yadav-dominated seat till date. Whether it is the 2019 Lok Sabha elections or the 2022 assembly elections, CM Yogi Adityanath never came to Karhal assembly seat. This is the first time that CM Yogi Adityanath has stepped into SP’s bastion Karhal with campaigning in the by-election. He did not step into Karhal, rather he took on the SP on familyism and dynasty. Sometimes he called uncle Shivpal Yadav a pendulum and sometimes he lashed out at the SP by talking about corruption in recruitment.
CM Yogi also enthused the BJP workers of Karhal. Former MLC and SP General Secretary Prof. Narsingh Inter College in which the meeting was organized. It was just 50 meters away from the house of Ram Gopal Yadav’s nephew Arvind Pratap Yadav. At the same time, the helipad of CM Yogi was built right in front of his house. In such a situation, Yogi has done the work of giving a new message to the workers somewhere in the SP’s stronghold.
In the public meeting of CM Yogi Adityanath organized at Narsingh Inter College, Karhal, the leaders present on the stage gave the message of everyone’s support and everyone’s development by creating caste balance. Cabinet minister Yogendra Upadhyay, leader of Brahmin society, Bhogaon MLA Ramnaresh Agrihotri, and Kannauj MP Subrat Pathak were present on the stage, while BJP’s tourism minister and Mainpuri Sadar seat MLA Thakur Jaiveer Singh and Etawah MLA Sarita Bhadauria were present. Was While Minister of State Girish Chandra Yadav from Yadav community was present to garner votes of backward castes, Union Minister SP Singh Baghel coming from Baghel community was present there. Member of Parliament Ramshankar Katheria and Minister of State for Independent Charge Aseem Arun were also present to help Dalits. Along with this, MLAs and MPs of other castes also appeared on the stage.
Even though SP is directly contesting BJP in the by-election for Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, but the attitude of BJP leaders towards Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav remained soft. While CM Yogi paid tribute to Netaji first in his address, other leaders also maintained restraint regarding Netaji. This can also have an impact on regional voters.
