Maharashtra : A constable, who was recently arrested for raping a Bangladeshi girl in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, has been suspended. The officers provided this information. The constable was arrested after a case was registered against him at Vishrambaug police station in Sangli, he said.
After his arrest, a local court sent him to police custody on remand, officials said. He said that Sangli Superintendent of Police Dr. Basavaraj Teli suspended the constable on Thursday. The constable is accused of sexually assaulting the 17-year-old victim, who came from Bangladesh, on several occasions.
