Pune : A 21-year-old engineering student drowned in a river in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Tuesday after playing Holi in a river with his friends. An officer gave this information. The officer said that Jaideep Patil, a resident of Jalgaon, is a third year student at DY Patil Engineering College, Talegaon Dabhade.

Who along with 10 other friends had gone to the nearby Indrayani river to wash off the colors after celebrating the festival. An officer from Talegaon MIDC police station said, “While his friends were on the river bank, Patil went into the deep water and lost his balance.

His friends raised an alarm, following which a rescue operation was launched. His body was taken out at around 2.30 pm. In another drowning incident, a 30-year-old man died in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai’s Juhu beach. (agency)
