Controversy erupted on Friday over the allotment of land to Shankaracharya of Jyotishpeeth. The revenue team of the fair administration, which went to measure in Sector 3 on Triveni Marg, reserved 40,000 square feet of Jyotishpeeth’s land. The followers got angry about this. Brahmachari Sridharanand, the representative of Jyotishpeethadhishwar refused to take the land of Dwarka-Sharda Peeth as well. A decision is expected on Saturday on the dispute over the allotment of land to Shankaracharyas.

The allotment of land for Shankaracharyas on Triveni Marg was to be done from 2 pm. Fair Manager Ravikant Dwivedi, Sector Magistrate Premnath along with Kanungo, Lekhpal arrived at three o’clock. During this time Sridharanand, the administrator of Mankameshwar temple was present there along with his disciples as the representative of Shankaracharyas of Jyotishpeeth and Dwarka-Sharda Peeth. On behalf of the Mela administration, measurement was done to allot 40 thousand square feet of land for Dwarka-Sharda Peeth, but it was said to reserve the land for Jyotishpeeth.

The representatives of Jyotishpeeth expressed their displeasure over the matter of keeping 40 thousand square feet of Jyotishpeeth’s land reserved by the fair manager. He said that no order has been issued by the Supreme Court on the land of Jyotishpeeth. Swami Swaroopanand has been getting land-facilities since 2017 in the fair as Jyotishapeethadhishwar.

In the same sequence, this time also the land of Jyotishpeeth should be given to them. The fair administration could not take any decision on this. The dispute continued till five in the evening. Ultimately, Shankaracharya’s representative Sridharanand did not even get the land of Dwarka-Sharda Peeth measured. He said that if the Jyotishpeeth’s land is not allotted, then Shankaracharya’s camp will not be organized in the Magh Mela this time.

Decision can be taken today on the land of Jyotishapeethadhishwar in Magh Mela

Whom the Mela administration recognizes as Jyotishpeethadhishwar this time, it will depend on the recent order issued by the Supreme Court. Officials associated with the Mela administration say that the Pattabhishek of Swami Avimukteshwaranand has been banned by the Supreme Court. In such a situation, the decision has not yet been taken on who should be given the land. On Saturday again, the fair administration will consider the allotment of Jyotishpeeth’s land.

There was no dispute regarding the land of Jyotish Peeth. Some officials of the fair administration are doing this on purpose. The allotment of land on Triveni Marg was to be done from Friday, but a week before that, Vasudevanand was already allotted land facilities there. The role of some officials of the fair administration in this whole episode is doubtful. If Jyotishpeeth’s land is not allotted as before, then this time Jyotishpeeth and Dwarka-Sharda Peeth’s camps will not be organized in Magh Mela. – Brahmachari Sridharanand, Mankameshwar Temple Saraswati Ghat.

The Supreme Court has stayed the consecration of Swami Avimukteshwarananda as Jyotishapeethadhishwar. In such a situation, the land of Jyotishpeeth should not be allotted to them. Fair administration should take a fair decision on this issue. – Omkar Nath Tripathi, Spokesperson – Swami Vasudevanand.

The order of the Supreme Court will be followed in the allotment of Jyotishpeeth’s land. For this, the process will be taken forward with legal opinion on Saturday. Since there is no one on the post of Jyotishapeethadhishwar at present, a decision will be taken only on the basis of legal opinion. Arvind Chauhan, Meladhikari.
