Nagpur. It has been only 7 days since Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Nagpur and Vidhansabha winter session session has come in the city. The whole city is on high alert. City police officers and thousands of police personnel have made preparations to keep an eye on every aspect for the safety of the dignitaries. However, despite the high alert, it is not difficult to breach the security of the station as the scanning of passengers’ luggage from the western gate is closed. The reason for this is, the scanning machine installed here has been removed. It was removed in view of security during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Nagpur station. Although it has been a week since he returned to Delhi, the machine could not return to its place.

VIP movement will increase from today

For the session, the movement of a large number of people including some ministers of the state government, most of the legislators, senior police officers increases. Most of these people travel through trains. In such a situation, the VIP movement at the station is very high during the entire season. Even in some trains going to major cities like Mumbai, Pune, extra air-conditioned coaches are added every week on Fridays and Saturdays for MLAs and their secretaries. In such a situation, the security system at the station is under strict supervision. However, in the absence of a scanning machine at the western gate, it is not very difficult to break into this security system. The convention is starting from Monday, so the VIP movement will start from Sunday itself. In such a situation, even a small carelessness can become a big headache.

UVSS not working

Talking about the security of the station, the UVSS (Under Vehicle Surveillance System) installed at a cost of lakhs in the western part is of no use now. Now it has become more of a dilemma than a convenience. Vehicles passing through here are neither being scanned nor any RPF jawan is being deployed here. On the other hand, due to the closed UVSS system, an awkward situation is created for the vehicles at the entrance. On one side long container trucks of RMS are standing and on the other hand there is a line of vehicles, autorickshaws etc. coming from opposite direction on UVSS.

one gate closed, the other open

After all, to stop thieves, anti-social elements and illegal autorickshaw drivers, barricades have been installed on the road near MCO. Though it is temporary but it is certainly a useful effort by the Railway Protection Force. Due to the installation of barricades, anti-social elements have stopped standing here, which is a matter of relief in view of passenger safety. However, right in front of this gate, the road from Tekdi Road near GRP Chowk has been fully opened. Earlier barricades were also installed here but due to the visit of Prime Minister Modi, they were removed. Once again anti-social elements and outside autorickshaw drivers have started camping here. There is also a gathering of drug addicts. Most of the passengers alighting from the autorickshaw come inside the station through this route on foot. Due to this, apart from women, girls and girls, the safety of life and property of other passengers has come in danger.
