The SP spokesperson’s mother and wife, who were buried under the debris of the razed Alaya apartment in Lucknow, were rescued on Wednesday morning and taken to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The relatives took the dead body without conducting the post-mortem. On the other hand, Hazratganj police registered an FIR and arrested Nawazish Shahid, son of former SP minister Shahid Manzoor.
The court has sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days. Five teams have been formed to search for the other two accused. Rescue operation is still going on. The government has constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner to investigate the matter.
The five-storey Alaya Apartment on Wazir Hasan Road collapsed at around 6.30 pm on Tuesday. NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade and police personnel were deployed in the rescue operation. By late Monday night, the teams had pulled out 12 people safely from the debris.
Relief rescue work was going on continuously. Four more people were pulled out on Wednesday morning. Out of this, SP spokesperson Abbas Haider’s mother Begum Amir Haider (72) and his wife Uzma Haider (35) were declared dead by the doctors.
