There are 12,696 vacancies of Lekhpal in the Revenue Department. At the same time, the department has sought details of the vacant posts of accountants in the year 2022-23 from all the districts.
A total of 32 thousand posts of revenue accountant have been created in the state. Out of these, the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission has conducted the examination for the recruitment of 8,085 posts. Results are awaited to be released.

Apart from this, 12,696 posts are also vacant. The official of the Revenue Council said that after the release of the result of the recruitment of 8,085 accountants, a fresh requisition will be sent to the commission.
Transfer cannot be done due to vacancy
In the Revenue Department, there is a rule to transfer a Lekhpal on completion of three consecutive years in Lekhpal area and ten years in Tehsil area. But despite the vacancies of a large number of accountants, they are not transferred even after the prescribed period. Each Tehsildar has the responsibility of two to three Lekhpal areas.
