Kashi Tamil Sangamam: PM Modi arrived in Anna look caught everyone's attention, see glimpses of the event in pictures


Kashi Tamil Sangamam being held in Kashi, the city of faith and spirituality, will give a new flight to the relations between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kashi Tamil Sangamam on Saturday. On this occasion, PM Modi appeared in the traditional look of South India. Dressed in the Anna look (white shirt and white lungi), the PM grabbed everyone’s attention. The people present at the venue said that PM Modi has become Anna today. Anna is called elder brother in South India.

In Kashi Tamil Sangamam, similarities will be seen in many things including industry, food and lifestyle. Kashi residents were curious to know about those products and also interested in buying them at the stalls of Tamil Nadu products set up in the amphitheater ground of BHU. In the times to come, Kashi Tamil Sangamam will be instrumental in providing a global platform to the products of these two cities.

The pandal prepared for Kashi Tamil Sangamam has an exhibition of 90 ancient temples and idols of gods and goddesses from Kashi and Tamil Nadu. It has 29 temples in Kashi and 61 in Tamil Nadu. The period of the temples engaged in the exhibition is from 3rd AD to 12th century. While the idol of Kartikeya of Varanasi is from the 4th century and the rest are from the 10th and 12th centuries.

Born in Tamil Nadu, pictures of Bollywood actors who made a mark with their acting in Hindi films became the center of attraction for everyone. Everyone was eager to get their photos clicked with the paintings of the artists in the exhibition held in the dark room in the amphitheater ground of BHU.

The photo exhibition of Bollywood stars like Sridevi, Hema Malini, Rekha, Vyjayanthimala, Rajinikanth, Dhanush and music composer AR Rahman is on display. Tamil movies dubbed in Hindi are being shown on the LED screen in the dark room.

Coconut oil is being sold in abundance in the exhibition. Papad made from Madurai dal, lentil snacks as well as Erode manjal made from turmeric and a mix of spices from Erode district are a hit with Tamil Nadu’s khadi stalls. A total of 30 stalls including Sathu Maavu, Mannanarai, Appalam Papad have been put up in the exhibition.
