The miscreant, who was running away after firing on the police team during investigation near Gomti river in Baba Van Hariharpur of Chandwak police station area in Jaunpur, was injured during an encounter in the early hours of Thursday. Pistol, revolver, cartridges, hollow and stolen bike were recovered from him. A total of 12 cases including robbery are registered against the arrested accused in Jaunpur and Azamgarh.
Police officer Gaurav Sharma said that Chandwak police station in-charge was patrolling and checking on Hariharpur road on Wednesday night. At the same time it was informed by Inspector Crime that a bike rider accused absconded by firing on the police team during investigation near Gomti river bridge. On the basis of the same information, the police reached near Baba Van Hariharpur, only then about three hundred meters ago, the bike rider coming from the front on the slope tried to run away leaving his car on the roadside. When the police team tried to catch the fleeing person, he opened fire.
