Iran Hijab Protest: Demonstration against Hijab in Iran spread to 15 cities, 31 killed Internet shutdown

Iran Hijab Protest: Protest against Hijab in Iran has spread to 15 cities. Girls boycotted classes in about 12 universities, including Tehra. Social media has been blocked in Tehran by shutting down the internet. So far more than a thousand people have been arrested by the police. At the same time, the security forces took violent action against the demonstrations. 31 civilians died in this case.

The youth have created a mobile app called ‘Garshad’ against the government. It has downloaded 1 million users. Youth are sending secret messages through this. Here the supreme religious leader Ayatollah Khomeini addressed a gathering on Wednesday. He made no mention of the anti-hijab protests.

Workforce participation 17 percent

According to the UN report, about 20,000 people from Iran apply for asylum in other countries every year. Of all these, women have the most applications. Up to 50% of women are enrolled in Iranian universities. Their participation in the workforce is just 17%.
