The Godan Express on the Janghai-Varanasi rail section of Northern Railway was saved from becoming a burning train due to the activism of the gateman. The pressure brake was cooled down by first stopping the train at gate number 43C and then at Suriawan station. Only after this the train could be dispatched to Gorakhpur with a delay of almost one hour. On getting information about the smoke coming out of the train, the situation of stampede remained among the passengers.
Godan Express is a train of Shahganj – Varanasi rail section. Due to the ongoing modernization work on the rail section, these days the train is being operated from the diverted rail section Janghai-Varanasi. Down train number 11055 Lokmanya Tilak via Gorakhpur as soon as reached at gate number 43C of Suriawan station.

Just then Gateman Shubham Kannaujiya’s eyes fell behind the fourth coach S-2 from the engine and smoke was coming out at a high speed. On receiving a signal from the crew, the train was brought to a halt and the passengers started disembarking in a hurry. After some time, the crew somehow made the train stand at Suriawan station.
