New Delhi: The entire north India including the national capital has been witnessing severe cold since last few days. Citizens of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar are in trouble all over North India due to the cold wave. At the same time, all the records of Delhi’s winter have been broken. Due to which the Meteorological Department has also issued red and orange alerts for many states of the country.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has said that due to light winds near the surface and high humidity in the Indo Gangetic Plain areas, the fog will be very dense for the next three days, which means visibility can be zero meters. According to the Meteorological Department, fog is going to wreak havoc in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh for the next two to three days.

IMD senior scientist R.K. Jenamani said that Safdarjung in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degree Celsius today. The day temperature in Delhi is also 15-17 degrees. Churu in Rajasthan recorded a minimum temperature of 0.5 degree Celsius. After January 10, there will be a slight increase in the temperature in the country. He further said that, till January 10, Red Alert of cold has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Orange Alert for Rajasthan and Bihar.

Bihar extended school holidays

Significantly, due to fog, the speed of trains has slowed down. All trains including Rajdhani and Duronto Express passing through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar were running late by hours. The Patna administration has had to extend the school holidays here for the third time. Here the schools will remain closed till January 14. The condition is bad in Patna. In view of the cold wave conditions in Patna, the District Magistrate has issued an order to keep all schools up to class 10 closed till January 14.

Schools closed till January 11 in Ghaziabad

Due to cold wave in UP’s Ghaziabad, schools from classes I to VIII have been closed till January 11. At the same time, schools up to class 8 have been ordered to be closed till January 14, 2023 in Mainpuri district. Significantly, in view of the ongoing cold wave in North India, schools in this district have been closed. Schools are expected to reopen on January 16, 2023.

Citizens suffering due to dense fog in Punjab

At the same time, in Punjab too, the citizens are suffering due to dense fog and cold. The fog has been wreaking havoc in the state’s Jalandhar and Pathankot for the last three days.
