The Allahabad High Court has directed Principal Secretary Environment, Uttar Pradesh to appear on the next date of hearing, February 2, in the Ganga pollution case. This order was given by the full bench of Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice MK Gupta and Justice Ajit Kumar while hearing the PIL regarding Ganga pollution.
The court has given this order due to the affidavit filed on behalf of the state government being unclear with unreadable annexures. The Principal Secretary prepared the affidavit in Lucknow and sent it to Prayagraj. The Advocate General said, the affidavit was received at 11:30 in the day.
The court asked whether the affidavit has not been inspected by the State Law Officer. Due to lack of clear affidavit, the Principal Secretary has been called. Advocate General Ajay Kumar Mishra told the court, temporary arrangements have been made for sewage treatment plant at Magh Mela.
