New Delhi: Today is the birthday of Ravindra Jadeja Birthday, the best all-rounder of the Indian cricket team. He was born in the year 1988 in Navgam Ghed town of Jamnagar district of Gujarat. This year Jadeja is celebrating his 34th birthday. Jadeja is one of the key player of Team India. Team India has a lot of faith in his ability. Jadeja has single-handedly won India many times. In the IPL, he is a part of the Chennai Super Kings, where his performances have always been stellar.

Father was a watchman, left cricket after mother’s death

Jadeja’s father Anirudh Singh Jadeja was a watchman of a private security agency. His father wanted Jadeja to become an army officer, but he was interested in cricket. Jadeja was afraid of his father in his childhood. His mother Lata Jadeja died in an accident in 2005. Jadeja was so shocked by this accident that he had almost given up cricket. However, later with the help of his coach, he again entered the field and showed his mettle.

Was a part of the Under-19 champion team, made his debut in 2009

Ravindra Jadeja did very well in domestic cricket. The Indian team won the World Cup in the year 2008 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. But, very few people know that Ravindra Jadeja was also a part of the team that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008. After which Jadeja got a chance to be a part of Team India in the year 2009. He made his ODI debut on 8 February 2009 against Sri Lanka and scored an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls in that match.

Then in the year 2012, the turning point of his life came and he became a part of IPL. Jadeja was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the 2012 IPL players auction for $2 million. After being banned from the IPL for two seasons by Chennai Super Kings, he was bought by Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL Players Auction for 9.5 crores. Wherein, he played brilliantly and made a comeback in Team India. MS Dhoni played a big role in bringing Ravindra Jadeja back to international cricket, after that Jadeja did not look back and went on to create one record after another.

First spinner to take 150 wickets in ODI

On 22 January 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 One Day International wickets when he dismissed Sam Billings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In March 2017, he became the top-ranked bowler in the world, overtaking Ravichandran Ashwin, who had held that position for a long time.

Jadeja was selected by the Rajasthan Royals for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008, and was instrumental in their victory. Jadeja scored 135 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 131.06, with a best score of 36 against Kings XI Punjab. He fared even better in 2009, scoring 295 runs at a strike rate of 110.90 and conceding less than 6.5 runs per over. Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne referred to Jadeja as a “superstar in the making”. Warne gave him the nickname “Rockstar”.

Jadeja married Riva Solanki on 17 April 2016. His wife is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who is a BJP candidate in the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022 this year. At the same time, his father and sister are leaders of the Indian National Congress.
