A hearing was also held on Thursday on the petition filed in the Allahabad High Court demanding regular worship of Shringar Gauri. In 1937, the case of Deen Mohammad was cited by the temple side. It was said, the witnesses had told in their statement that all the gods and goddesses, including Shringar Gauri, Ganesh, Hanuman, were being worshiped there directly and indirectly.
After the debate that lasted for about an hour, the court has fixed the date of December 13, taking forward the hearing of the case. Justice JJ Munir’s division bench is hearing the petition filed by Rakhi Singh and others. During the arguments, advocate Harishankar Jain, on behalf of the temple side, presented his facts through video conferencing.
Citing British District Magistrate James Prince’s book ‘Banaras Illustrated’ and BHU historian AS Altekar’s book, he talked about the regular worship of gods and goddesses including Shringar Gauri, Ganesha and Hanuman. Told, in the statement given by 12 witnesses in Deen Mohammad’s case, it was also said that Shringar Gauri and other deities were regularly worshipped.
