With time, now farmers are adopting new techniques of farming. That’s why retired teacher and his teacher son, resident of village Nagla Motirai of Chandpa area in Hathras, started organic farming of capsicum in poly house five years ago, they have been doing it continuously. At the same time biological technology is also being used for pest and disease control.
People are facing losses due to traditional farming, but Shyamsundar Sharma, a resident of village Motirai in Chandpa region, has given up potato cultivation. Now he is fully engaged in organic farming. That’s why he has started organic farming of capsicum leaving the traditional cultivation of wheat and potatoes, from which he is now expecting good profits, for which Sharma is working day and night in the polyhouse. People of Agra and Delhi are eating colorful red, yellow and green chillies from Mursan area of Hathras.
There is a demand for red and yellow chillies in five star hotels
In response to a question asked, the farmer told that at the local level there are no people to buy red and yellow capsicum. It is supplied to five star hotels and restaurants in Agra-Delhi. It is available at a reasonable price only there.
Five times the price of common capsicum
Generally, the price of capsicum is 30 to 40 rupees per kg. While colorful capsicum is available in the market for Rs 150 to 200 per kg. Due to this, there will be an income of about 12 to 14 lakh rupees in a year. Amit Sharma told that the income which is normally earned by doing traditional farming in 50 bighas of field, the same income is obtained from 10 bighas of capsicum from polyhouse.
