Nagpur. The Vice-Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University, Prof. of Mass Communication Department, who is facing the charges of extortion by threatening the professors. Dharmesh Dhawankar has finally been sent on strict leave after waiting for almost a month. The university issued an order in this regard on Friday. Along with this, his entry into the university campus, campus and mass communication department was also banned. After the action taken by the university, it is now believed that the police will clamp down on them.

On the basis of fake complaint, Dhawankar extorted lakhs of rupees from 7 department heads of the university, fearing action. There was a deal of around 50 lakhs. Out of this, Rs 15.50 lakh had been given. Meanwhile, seeing the increasing pressure of Dhawankar, the aggrieved professors complained to the Vice-Chancellor on 4 November. After the complaint, the university sought an explanation from Dhawankar. It took about 10 days for the clarification to come, but the Vice-Chancellor had rejected this explanation. During this, Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Neelam Gorhe ordered an inquiry into the entire matter. Along with this, the Minister of Higher and Technical Education had also talked about taking a meeting with the Police Commissioner regarding the matter.

Now the police will tighten the screws

Meanwhile, Dhawankar’s supporters tried their level best to hush up the matter, but after Gorhe’s tough stand, the pressure on the vice-chancellor also mounted. As per the rules, when the explanation is rejected by the administration, in that case the Vice-Chancellor can use his powers and send him on strict leave. On Friday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Subhash Chowdhary took action using this right. After the Vice-Chancellor’s order, the Registrar issued the letter and it was handed over to Dhawankar sitting in the department. Now the investigation process will also be completed.

During the leave, Dhawankar cannot come to the University, Campus and Public Relations Department. For this, it will be mandatory for them to take the approval of the Vice-Chancellor. After sending on strict leave, now the police investigation against him will also speed up. Although no complaint has been made by the university to the police station so far, but investigation can be done on the basis of the complaint of the aggrieved professors. This is the reason that now the hope of police cracking down on Dhawankar has also increased.
