New Delhi. Delhi has recorded 4,469 cases of dengue in 2022, which is 53 per cent less than the number of cases of the disease in 2021. This information was given in the data released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. According to the data released on Monday, nine people died due to dengue till December 31 last year.

In the national capital, 9,613 cases were found in 2021, which was the highest since 2015. There were also 23 deaths that year, the highest number of dengue deaths since 2016. Cases of vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria are generally found between July and November. Sometimes this time extends till mid-December.

According to the report released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday, last year Delhi had 23 cases in January, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May, 32 in June, 26 in July, 75 in August. were registered. These cases increased manifold after August. In the year 2022, the maximum number of 1,420 cases were reported in November, followed by 1,238 cases in October and 874 cases in December. In the year 2015, there was a huge outbreak of dengue in Delhi. 10,600 cases were reported that year, the highest since 1996.

As per the MCD report, Delhi will also record 263 cases of malaria and 48 cases of chikungunya in 2022. Symptoms of vector-borne diseases include high fever, headache, itching, muscle and joint pain, etc. Like those infected with corona virus, there are other symptoms besides fever, muscle and body aches, fatigue and headache.

According to official figures, Delhi recorded 4,726 cases in 2017, 2,798 cases in 2018, 2,036 cases in 2019, 1,072 cases in 2020 and 9,613 in 2021. Ten people each died of dengue in 2016 and 2017, four in 2018, two in 2019, one in 2020 and 23 in 2021. According to the MCD report, mosquito larvae were found in 1,71,334 houses till December 23 last year. The administration has sent 1,22,282 legal notices and 45,934 cases have been registered in this regard. (agency)
