Constable Keshav Kumar (21), posted at Alhaganj police station in Shahjahanpur district, hanged himself to death on Sunday evening. Investigation was done after fellow soldiers did not pick up calls for not reaching duty in the second shift. His body was seen hanging inside. SP Dehat Sanjeev Kumar Vajpayee and CO Jalalabad Ajay Rai reached the spot and investigated.
Keshav Kumar, son of Ramkumar, a resident of Kharkhoda in Meerut district, was a 2021 batch soldier. On January 6 this year, he got his first posting in the police station. Keshav had taken a room on rent in Salim’s house on Bypass Road.
During the day he returned to the room after doing duty and closed the door. When I called from the police station for duty in the evening shift at around 6 o’clock, the call was not received. When there was no sound from inside, the discussion spread among the people of the locality. When he did not reach on duty, the policemen came from the police station at around quarter to nine in the night and peeped inside by putting torch light.
His dead body was found hanging in the room. After the information, CO Jalalabad Ajay Rai and station in-charge Pradeep Saharawat reached the spot. Inspector has contacted Keshav’s family members. According to the CO, the relatives have left Meerut. The dead body will be unloaded only after their arrival. At around 9.30 pm, SP Dehat Sanjeev Kumar Vajpayee reached the spot and investigated.
