coliseum opaque; Information about Law Minister Kiren Rijiju in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi : There is no transparency, objectivity and social diversity in the collegium system of appointing Supreme Court and High Court judges, various constituents have requested the government to take steps to improve the system, as informed by Law Minister Kiren Rijiju in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

‘Information received from the government, recommendations have been sent to the High Court and the Supreme Court’, said Law Minister Kiren Rijiju in a written reply. The government is trying to make the process of appointment of judges more comprehensive, transparent and accountable. For this, the National Judicial Appointments Commission would have been able to do the law’, also said Rijiju. ‘On 16 December, 154 recommendations were made from the High Courts of the country. Whether the recommendation is under consideration at the collegium level of the government and the Supreme Court’, Rijiju gave this information in relation to another question. The government would have made an independent law regarding court appointments. Only this law was canceled by the Supreme Court. The differences between the Government and the Supreme Court have come to the fore.
